Kikyougahara Wine

Kikyougahara

Kikyougahara (prairie) lies at the foot of the Northern Alps at an altitude of 700 meters.
With plenty of clear days, dry conditions and large temperature difference between day and night, this land is ideal for the cultivation of grapes.
These quality grapes are the raw material for wine making in Shiojiri that exceeds 100 years. Now, Shiojiri wine is well-recognized in the world, and gaining excellent results in international competitions.

Kiso Hirasawa (lacquerware town, Nationally-designated Important Preservation District of Historic Buildings)

Hirasawa's lacquerware stores bring together the community.
The traditional craftsmanship handed down from generation to generation is unique to this area and still flourishes to this day.
In April 2006, it became a nationally-designated important preservation district of historic buildings.

Nrai-juku(post town, Nationally-designated Important Preservation District of Historic Buildings)

At the hardest part of the Torii Pass, Narai-juku became an extremely prosperous post town among the 11 post towns in the Kiso-ji, also know as the "Narai of a Thousand Houses".
The rows of shops and houses with exceptionally preserved old-time ambience were nationally selected as an important preservation district of historic buildings in May, 1978.
